Ghaziabad, August 28 — On Wednesday, Christ University, Delhi NCR, celebrated the grand inauguration of its Media Innovation Centre (MIC). The event was not only a significant milestone for the university but also paved the way for students to reach new heights in the evolving world of media. The occasion was graced by distinguished experts from journalism, diplomacy, and media, who shared inspiring thoughts, providing students with a new perspective.

Lamp Lighting & Opening Ceremony

The inauguration began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony attended by Dean and Director Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy P. George, Campus Administrator Rev. Fr. Peter M.V., and other esteemed guests. Following the lamp lighting, Rev. Fr. Jossy P. George welcomed the dignitaries, faculty, and students with a heartfelt address. He stated, “The Media Innovation Centre (MIC) is a powerful platform that will provide our students with a unique opportunity to recognize and expand their potential in the field of media and communication. Through MIC, we aim to offer not just academic knowledge but practical experience, enabling students to play a leading role in the media industry.”

Dr. Janis Darbari, Honorary Consul General of Montenegro in India, shared her insights on the role of media in global diplomacy. She emphasized, “Media is no longer just a means of exchanging information but has become a powerful tool that promotes dialogue and cultural exchange between nations. In today’s digital world, the power of media is boundless. We must use this power responsibly to ensure it serves humanity positively.” She further added, “Media is a bridge not only between countries but also between hearts. We must use it wisely.”

Renowned media personality Abhigyan Prakash, a former editor at NDTV and ABP News, motivated students with his words. He said, “The purpose of media is not just to disseminate news but to empower society and guide it in the right direction. We must remain committed to truth and uphold the ethics of journalism.” He encouraged students to “highlight stories that awaken and inspire society. True journalism is one that brings change and compels people to think.”

Former Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Sitanshu Kar, spoke about the role of media in shaping public opinion and policy. He remarked, “Media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion. It is not just a source of information but also molds societal views and perspectives. We must understand the immense power of media and how it can be effectively used for societal and national welfare.”

The most significant moment of the event came when Rev. Fr. Jossy P. George unveiled the new MIC logo, symbolizing the official start of the Centre. Following this, Rev. Fr. Peter M.V. launched the MIC Podcast. This new initiative will not only provide a platform for exploring media trends but will also connect students with industry leaders’ insights. The podcast will serve as a space where students can reach a broader audience and learn from industry veterans.

Ms. Nipunika Shahid, Coordinator of the Media Innovation Centre, elaborated on the significance of MIC at the inauguration ceremony. She said, “The establishment of the Media Innovation Centre aims to introduce students to the latest trends and technologies in media. This Centre will not only provide an educational platform but will act as an incubator where students can shape their creativity and ideas practically.” She continued, “We want MIC to offer students an opportunity to understand the diversity and challenges of media and practically realize their skills. Through workshops and seminars, we are committed to providing students with experience, knowledge, and inspiration.” Mr Anoop Antony’s technical expertise will add visualization to the initiative.
