Christ University Delhi NCR hosted a plenary discussion on indoor pollution and rural sustainability, highlighting clean cooking, renewable energy, and women-centric solutions for healthier rural communities.
Delhi NCR, July 30, 2025 — The School of Social Sciences, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR Campus, in collaboration with IndianMasterminds.com, organized a plenary discussion on “Indoor Pollution and Sustainable Solutions for Rural Communities” at the Mini Auditorium, Block-B.
The event was organised under the research project titled “Leading towards Sustainability: Analyzing the Possible Consequences of Indoor Pollution on Rural Women in Uttar Pradesh, India.” The project team comprises Principal Investigator Dr. Salineeta Chaudhuri, along with project team members Dr. Lakshay Sharma, Ms. Susanthika S and Ms. Nipunika Shahid.
The session was graced by Dean Dr. Jeanne Poulose, Head of Department Dr. Shivani Chaudhry, Academic Coordinator Dr. Jitender Bhandari, and Project Coordinator Dr. Salineeta Chaudhuri, along with the distinguished guest speakers.
The plenary featured Mr. Rohit Mehra, IRS officer and popularly known as the Green Man of India; Ms. Anumita Roychowdhury, Executive Director of Research and Advocacy at the Centre for Science and Environment; and Mr. Sharad Gupta, Editor of IndianMasterminds.com. They shared their insights on the critical issue of indoor air pollution, its adverse health and environmental consequences, and the need for sustainable, community-based interventions in rural India.

Key themes of the discussion included clean cooking solutions, rural renewable energy, policy advocacy, and women-centric approaches to tackling indoor pollution. The interactive session also encouraged active participation from faculty and students, making it both informative and engaging.
The event reaffirmed CHRIST University’s commitment to sustainability, gender-sensitive research, and fostering dialogue on pressing social and environmental issues.
