Bridging Borders: Media and Education as Catalysts for South Asian Cooperation

Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, hosted Dr. O.P. Yadav, SAARC expert, for a lecture on the role of media and education in strengthening South Asian cooperation, cultural exchange, and regional ties.

New Delhi, August 28, 2025: The Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, organized a special extension lecture as part of its weekly lecture series on the topic “Role of Media and Education in South Asian Relationship” today. Dr. O.P. Yadav, Public Relations Officer of the Regional SAARC Education Center, Kathmandu, was the keynote speaker at the event.

With over 22 years of experience as a Senior Editor at Doordarshan News, Delhi, Dr. Yadav has been a prominent figure in the field of journalism. He has served as the Chairman of the Parliament Press of South Asia (SAARC Nations) since 2018, promoting regional media cooperation. Dr. Yadav has received numerous accolades, including the Presidential Award 2016 for journalism and public services.

During the lecture, Dr. Yadav emphasized the crucial role of media and education in establishing relations between South Asian countries. He highlighted key issues such as education systems in SAARC countries, women’s education, knowledge and skill development, and cultural exchange. He stressed that media and education can play a vital role in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation among South Asian nations.

Dr. Yadav also underscored the importance of student-centric learning centers and the potential for Delhi University and Delhi School of Journalism to collaborate with South Asian University on educational and cultural exchange programs. Dr. Sanjay Verma, OSD of the institute, welcomed Dr. Yadav and highlighted the significance of the lecture series as part of the institute’s digital library initiative. Dr. Vikas Singh, Assistant Professor, introduced the keynote speaker and delivered the vote of thanks.
