New Delhi, 27 November 2025 – In a landmark move to democratise artificial intelligence education, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) officially launched YUVA AI for ALL, a completely free, self-paced online course designed to equip every Indian with foundational AI literacy.
Announced on 18 November 2025 under the flagship IndiaAI Mission, the programme aims to train one crore (10 million) citizens over the coming years, making India one of the few countries in the world to offer government-backed AI education at this massive scale — and at zero cost.
Why Now? The Urgent Need for Mass AI Literacy
India is projected to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2030 and already has the largest youth population globally. Yet, only a tiny fraction of Indians currently understand how AI works or how to use it responsibly. From ChatGPT and Gemini to home-grown tools like Bhashini and Krutrim, AI is rapidly reshaping jobs, education, healthcare, agriculture, and governance.
Speaking at the virtual launch event, Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, said:
“AI is no longer a technology of the future — it is the present. If we want an inclusive digital India, every citizen — whether a student in a small town, a farmer, a teacher, or a professional — must have basic AI awareness. YUVA AI for ALL is our commitment to bridge this gap.”
