Bengaluru Office Launch Signals AI Boom Amid Enterprise Deals
Anthropic, the AI powerhouse backed by Amazon, revealed explosive growth in India, with its revenue run-rate doubling over the past four months. The surge coincides with major enterprise adoptions of its coding agent, Claude Code, by Air India and Cognizant, alongside the opening of its first Indian office in Bengaluru.
Claude Code has emerged as a game-changer for software development, powering tasks like app building, system modernization, and production deployments. Nearly half of Claude.ai’s usage in India focuses on computer and mathematical applications, making it the company’s second-largest market after the US.

Enterprise Powerhouses Fuel Rapid Expansion
Air India is leveraging Claude Code to speed up custom software creation and embed agentic AI into its core operations, streamlining everything from flight systems to customer services. Meanwhile, Cognizant, a global IT leader with 350,000 employees, is rolling out the tool worldwide to revamp legacy infrastructure and boost AI capabilities for its clients.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei highlighted India’s “technical intensity” during the company’s Builder Summit in Bengaluru. “India’s business run-rate revenue has doubled since my last visit, and Claude Code’s growth is even faster,” Amodei stated, crediting the nation’s developer talent and entrepreneurial spirit.

New Bengaluru Hub and High-Profile AI Summit
The Bengaluru office, Anthropic’s second in Asia following Tokyo, will be spearheaded by Managing Director Irina Ghose, ex-Microsoft India leader. This move builds on an October 2025 expansion pledge, now bolstered by new partnerships in legal tech, education, healthcare, and agritech startups.
Timing aligns with Amodei’s upcoming speech at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where he’ll share the stage with Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and Google DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis. Globally, Anthropic’s momentum continues: a $30 billion Series G funding round valued it at $380 billion, with $14 billion in run-rate revenue and Claude Code alone hitting $2.5 billion.
India’s AI ecosystem is thriving, positioning the country as a key battleground for tools like Claude Code amid fierce competition from rivals like OpenAI and Google.
