Telangana unveils a plan to establish 120 Global Capability Centres by 2026, creating 120,000 jobs and making Hyderabad a global tech powerhouse.

TheInterviewTimes.com | Hyderabad | November4, 2025 — In a decisive move to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a global technology hub, the Telangana government has announced an ambitious plan to anchor 120 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) by 2026. The initiative is projected to create 120,000 high-skill jobs, underscoring the state’s commitment to becoming India’s top innovation destination.

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu unveiled the plan during the inauguration of Vanguard’s Global Value Centre at Knowledge Park, Hitec City. The announcement signals Telangana’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for multinational corporations setting up Global Capability Centres focused on digital transformation, analytics, and next-generation technologies.

Vanguard’s Entry Boosts Hyderabad’s GCC Momentum

Vanguard, one of the world’s largest asset management firms with over $12.5 trillion in assets, has established its flagship innovation centre in Hyderabad. The new facility will serve as a strategic hub for AI-driven product engineering, data security, cloud modernization, and digital platform development, reinforcing Hyderabad’s edge in the financial technology sector.

With this milestone, Hyderabad now hosts all seven of the world’s top asset management firms, collectively overseeing assets worth $30 trillion. According to Vanguard’s leadership, Hyderabad’s skilled talent base, robust infrastructure, and investor-friendly policies were key factors behind their decision to set up a Global Capability Centre in Telangana.

Hyderabad Outpaces Bengaluru in Global Capability Centres

Hyderabad’s dominance in attracting new Global Capability Centres has accelerated in recent years. Between 2022 and 2025, the city accounted for 40% of all new GCC setups in India, outpacing Bengaluru’s 33% share. Out of 160 new GCCs established nationwide since 2022, 64 were launched in Hyderabad, creating over 20,000 new jobs.

Currently, the city hosts more than 360 Global Capability Centres, employing over 310,000 professionals—approximately 14% of Telangana’s total white-collar workforce. This surge reflects Hyderabad’s transformation into a center of excellence for AI, machine learning, and digital innovation.

Industry observers credit this growth to Hyderabad’s world-class infrastructure, record-breaking office space leasing of 13.1 million sq. ft. in 2024, and a progressive industrial policy that offers special economic zones, innovation clusters, and talent development programs.

Economic and Strategic Impact of Global Capability Centres

Telangana’s Global Capability Centres strategy is central to its “Rising Telangana” mission—aimed at fostering innovation-led economic growth while generating large-scale employment. The government is investing heavily in skilling, upskilling, and reskilling programs to prepare youth for digital economy roles across AI, data analytics, cloud engineering, and cybersecurity.

These initiatives are expected to create a ripple effect across multiple sectors, including finance, retail, healthcare, and technology, where GCCs serve as anchors for research, design, and end-to-end product development.

Experts note that India’s GCC landscape is undergoing a major shift—from traditional outsourcing operations to strategic innovation and leadership centres. By 2030, India is expected to host over 2,400 Global Capability Centres, employing 2.8 million professionals and contributing $105 billion to the economy. Hyderabad is forecast to play a pivotal role in this global expansion.
