For lakhs of job-seeking postgraduates in Uttar Pradesh, the repeated deferments have become a source of despair.

Candidates allege that the government and Commission are “playing with their future” by failing to conduct the examination on time.

“This is nothing less than betrayal by the system. I have been preparing in Prayagraj for two years. My parents’ hard-earned money is being wasted because of these endless delays,” said Vishal Mishra, an aspirant.

Another candidate, Rajat Singh, national executive member of Sanyukt Yuva Morcha, said:

“The exam was first scheduled in 2022, then shifted to April 2025, later to June, then August, and finally October 15–16, 2025. Now, it has again been postponed. How long can unemployed youth keep waiting?”

U.P. PGT Exam Postponed: UPESSC Official Notice

A notice issued by the UPESSC on September 29 stated:

“Advertisement number 02/2022, Lecturer (PGT) written examination, scheduled for October 15–16, 2025, has been deferred due to unavoidable reasons. Revised dates will be announced later.”

The abrupt announcement comes just days after UPESSC Chairperson Kriti Pandey resigned, raising further questions about the functioning of the newly created body.

Formed in 2023, the UPESSC is tasked with selecting teachers for aided non-government colleges, minority institutions, intermediate and higher secondary schools, as well as junior high schools under the U.P.
