In a landmark move promoting digital sovereignty and Atmanirbhar Bharat, the Ministry of Education has launched a Zoho Swadeshi Push, making the Zoho Office Suite mandatory for all officials to create, edit, and share official documents.
According to an official memorandum issued by the Department of Higher Education, this initiative marks a strategic step to reduce dependency on foreign software products and encourage the use of indigenous digital tools developed by Indian companies.
A Swadeshi Push for Digital India
The circular, digitally signed by Nishant Upadhyaya, Under Secretary to the Government of India, emphasized that the Zoho Swadeshi Push aligns with the government’s vision of “self-reliance in technology.”
“By embracing Zoho’s indigenous office productivity tools, we take a bold step in the Swadeshi movement — empowering India to lead with homegrown innovation, strengthen digital sovereignty, and secure our data for a self-reliant future,” the circular stated.
Officials have been directed to manage all office documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using Zoho, now fully integrated with NIC Mail for seamless and secure access across departments.
