A Bold Design with EV Flair

The Tata Harrier EV retains the iconic, muscular stance of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart while introducing EV-specific design tweaks. Its exterior features a closed-off grille, revised front bumper, silver bash plates, and EV badging. The SUV sports connected LED DRLs, vertical headlights, and a sleek rear light bar. Available in 18-inch and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, it also includes black cladding, a silver C-pillar insert, and color options like Nainital Nocturne, Pure Grey, Pristine White, Empowered Oxide, and the exclusive Stealth Black for the Stealth Edition.

Premium Interiors Packed with Tech

Inside, the Harrier EV offers a premium experience with a 14.53-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen—a world-first in automotive applications. It’s paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone AC, and a 10-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos 5.1. The cabin supports OTA updates, voice commands, and iRA connected car tech with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Unique features include a 540-degree surround view with Transparent Mode (showing under the vehicle), a digital key via smartphone/smartwatch, and advanced functionalities like E-ValetSummon Mode, and Auto Park Assist. Comfort features include ventilated and powered front seats, rear “Boss Mode” for extra legroom, a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, 45W USB-C ports, and a wireless charger.

The SUV also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, making it versatile for modern lifestyles.

Powertrain and Performance

The Harrier EV is offered with two battery packs:

  • 65 kWh: Single motor (RWD) with 234 bhp.
  • 75 kWh: Dual motors (QWD AWD) with 156 bhp (front) and 235 bhp (rear), delivering a combined 396 PS and 504 Nm of torque.

The 75 kWh variant boasts a 627 km range (MIDC cycle), with real-world estimates of 480–505 km. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds, making it quicker than rivals like the BYD Atto 3 (7.3 seconds). The SUV supports 120 kW DC fast charging (20–80% in 25 minutes) and is compatible with 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW AC chargers.

Drive modes include Eco, City, Sport, Boost, and Drift, while terrain modes like Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Custom enhance its off-road prowess. The Ultra Glide suspension with frequency-dependent dampers ensures a smooth ride, and the Off-Road Assist with low-speed cruise control (as low as 5 km/h) makes it adventure-ready.

Unmatched Safety Features

Safety is a priority, with six airbags (seven in higher trims), ABS with EBD, ESC, and TPMS as standard. The Harrier EV introduces India’s first Level 2 ADAS with 22 features, including adaptive cruise control, driver attention warning, and low-speed autonomous emergency braking. The 540-degree camera with Transparent Mode, blind spot monitoring, and auto park assist further enhance safety.

Off-Road Capabilities

The QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) system, paired with six terrain modes, makes the Harrier EV a capable off-roader. Its ability to climb challenging terrains like Elephant Rock in Kerala showcases its ruggedness. The 540-degree camera, including a view beneath the vehicle, aids navigation in tough conditions.

Competitive Edge and Market Impact

Priced from ₹21.49 lakh, the Harrier EV undercuts competitors like the Mahindra XEV 9e (₹21.9 lakh) while offering superior features like AWD and a longer range. Compared to the BYD Atto 3 (420 km range) and Hyundai Creta Electric, the Harrier EV stands out with its lifetime battery warranty—a segment-first—and advanced tech like the Neo QLED display and 540-degree camera.

Tata Motors aims for a 50% EV market share by 2030, with the Harrier EV targeting 50,000 annual sales. Positioned as a “third space” for adventure and relaxation, it appeals to premium SUV buyers with a YOLO and FOMO mindset.
