Christ University Media Verse: Along with technology, knowledge also necessary for new era journalism

Christ University Media Verse: Ghaziabad, March 17.  In the present times, while technology has become an important aspect of journalism, the importance of knowledge still remains in the existence. This was said by the country’s leading journalists and academicians during the media festival ‘Mediaverse’ at the Delhi-NCR campus of Christ University.

Participating in this program held on Friday, the country’s well-known journalist Pankaj Pachauri termed the technological inclination of the youth as the need of the hour and also paid special attention to checking the facts.

During the panel discussion, senior journalist and chairman of the journalism department of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), Prof. Sidharth Mishra described the importance of knowledge in journalism as a necessity and said that there is still a need for continuous reading and writing for journalism. He stressed that technology is helpful only when you continuously practice knowledge. While cautioning, he said that there is a need to always pay attention to the fact that journalists should not become the news themselves.

Rajesh Sundaram, editor of the video service of Press Trust of India (PTI), called the present-day journalism as a journalism undergoing change. He said that journalists need to take technology not as a challenge but as a supporting unit, only then they will be able to make their presence felt in this era of change.

Dean and Director of the University, Father (Dr.) Jossy George inaugurated the one-day media festival by lighting the lamp, while the panel discussion was moderated by Prof. Sidharth Mishra. In the closing ceremony of the program, well-known radio jockey Rahul Makin of Fever FM asked the youth to maintain positivity in the ups and downs of life. While receiving a warm welcome from the students, he shared his experiences of FM Radio with them and inspired them to fulfill their dreams in life. Senior PTI journalist Ravi Parashar was also present in the program.
