On Thursday, January 15, the Supreme Court directed that petitions challenging the results of the Common Law Admission Test CLAT 2025 be moved to the Delhi High Court. These petitions, originally filed in multiple High Courts, contest the results of the December 2024 CLAT exam, which is used for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate law programs across various National Law Universities.
A bench led by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, along with Justices PV Sanjay Kumar and KV Viswanathan, issued the order after a transfer petition was filed by the Consortium of National Law Universities. The bench instructed that all relevant records be transferred to the Delhi High Court within seven days.

The court also directed that all pending cases regarding CLAT UG and PG results be moved to the Delhi High Court, where related appeals are being heard. The directive covers cases pending in various High Courts, including those in Delhi, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Bombay, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab & Haryana.
The Supreme Court had earlier shown a preference to transfer the petitions to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the first petition was filed there. However, following developments in the case, the transfer order was made to the Delhi High Court.
The move follows a ruling by a single judge in the Delhi High Court in December 2024, which identified two incorrect answers in the CLAT-UG 2025 exam. The judge directed the Consortium to revise the results for the petitioners. When the Consortium appealed this decision, the division bench of the Delhi High Court expressed its initial view that no errors were found in the single bench’s ruling.
